Their popularity is also why they are called the city’s moving landmarks. There is nothing more charming that riding a chiming cable car as it rattles up the steep roads that the city of San Francisco is so famous for.

Of course, no trip to San Francisco City would be complete without visiting the Golden Gate Bridge. Even the most outgoing travelers marvel in awe as they behold its impressive 1.7 mile span for the first time. It accommodates over 120,000 vehicles every day. It also has a pedestrian walkway and a bike path on its western side.  The iconic structure also happens to be one of the most photographed ones on Earth.

One of the popular tourist attractions is Fisherman’s Wharf, a festive waterfront marketplace that is home to area’s sea lions. The animals attract visitors and entertain them with their antics. The city’s Chinatown is also a great place for exotic cuisines and to pick up some cheap souvenirs for home.

The infamous Alcatraz prison on The Rock is also a great tourist attraction. It is located on an island right in the middle of San Francisco Bay. Don’t worry; it is empty and abandoned now. The place now offers cell house tours that give visitors the chance to explore and learn what made the prison such a notorious place for the inmates who were unlucky enough to be imprisoned there.

If you love to visit places that boast of great architecture, culinary delights, art, shopping extravaganzas and more activities that you can enjoy then plan your next stop for the city by the bay. Just make sure that you bring a cardigan or two when you visit. The place is also called the city by the fog for a reason. Also bring a pair of sneakers. The wide sidewalks might make San Francisco a great pedestrian city; however it is built on hills, steep ones. You don’t want to be left huffing your way up them if you miss the cable cars.
